GOOD FRIDAY TENEBRAE SERVICE
Friday, April 3, 2015
7:30 in the GRC Sanctuary
The Service of Tenebrae is an adaptation of an early fourth century office traditionally sung during Holy Week. The gradual extinguishing of the candles is symbolic of the flight of the disciples, the approach of the dark hatred of Jesus’ enemies, and the resentment of the world, leading to the final isolation of Jesus on the cross. Nursery care for young children will be available during the service. Readers and 2 Bell Ringers are needed for the service. Sign-up sheet can be found on glass cabinet in lobby of Sanctuary. Rehearsal will take place following worship on 3/29/15.
April 5, 2015
Sunday School Classes and Children and Worship program will not meet. At 7:00 AM we will gather for a Family Sunrise Service to recall some of the stories that might have been on the minds of the women who went to anoint Jesus’ body. The service will begin in the cemetery behind the church, weather permitting, and then move into Chilton Hall of the Christian Education Building. It will be followed by a light breakfast. At our 10:10 AM worship service we will celebrate the resurrection.
