For those who are just curious and/or looking for a church home, we hope this site will give you a taste of who we are and what we are about. For those who are already part of our faith community, we hope this site will help you stay in touch with what's going on. For all, it is our prayer that this electronic meeting place will only be the start of our becoming better acquainted with each other and the God who loves us! Stay tuned! As it is with our faith, this site will always be a work in process. - Rev. David J Jones

EASTER SUNDAY – April 1, 2018.

Tuesday, March 20th, 2018

Sunday School Classes and Children and Worship program will not meet.  At 7:00 AM we will gather for a Family Sunrise Service to recall some of the stories that might have been on the minds of the women who went to anoint Jesus’ body.  The service will begin in the cemetery behind the church, weather permitting, and then move into Chilton Hall of the Christian Education Building.  It will be followed by a light breakfast.  At our 10:10 AM worship service we will celebrate the resurrection

-Friday, March 30, 2018, at 7:00 PM in the GRC Sanctuary.  The Service of Tenebrae is an adaptation of an early fourth century office traditionally sung during Holy Week.  The gradual extinguishing of the candles is symbolic of the flight of the disciples, the approach of the dark hatred of Jesus’ enemies, and the resentment of the world, leading to the final isolation of Jesus on the cross.  Nursery care for young children will be available during the service.

There are four RCA churches in our area – our Church, Emmanuel Reformed Church in Castleton, Blooming Grove Reformed Church in Rensselaer, and the First Reformed Church in Wynantskill.  Very often the clergy of these churches cover for each other when one or more of us are out of town.  As a way of strengthening our ties with one another, the Clergy of these four churches periodically exchange pulpits. On this Sunday, Pastor Dave will be leading worship at the Blooming Grove Reformed Church and Rev. Dirk Gieser will be leading worship at GRC.

We are blessed to have many volunteers who step up and do so much for our congregation.  It is impossible to find words to adequately express how much this means to the life of our congregation.  Without these saints, there would be much that would not get done and the cost of doing the things we do would be beyond reach.  Each year, we attempt to highlight one of these volunteers by recognizing them in a special way.  It is our small attempt to not take the gifts our volunteers give for granted.  This year we will again honor someone in our congregation on Sunday, 4/22/18.  A presentation will be made during worship and a luncheon will be provided in Chilton Hall following worship.  So that we know how many to plan lunch for, please add your name to the sign-up sheet on the glass cabinet in the sanctuary or by contacting the church office, or 477-6030.  Thanks.

Do you regularly shop at Hannaford? If so, now you have an opportunity to help Greenbush Reformed Church raise money whenever you shop at Hannaford.  All you need to do is purchase a Hannaford gift card from the church.  Once you have a card, you can periodically refill the card through us.  When you purchase or refill the card, Hannaford will give our church 5% of the amount purchased (if you purchase a $100 card, the church gets $5).

So, go buy your weekly groceries or non-perishable goods for the Doors of Hope food pantry using your Hannaford gift card and know that by doing so you are also helping your church. Oh yeah, you can also purchase the cards to give as a gift!

Here’s how it works:

  • You may purchase your Hannaford Gift Card by visiting David Hallenbeck at coffee hour following church. Submit cash or a check payable to “Greenbush Reformed Church” for the amount that you want to purchase (cards are available in denominations of $25, $50 and $100). Be sure to indicate in the memo of the check “Hannaford fundraiser”. We are starting out with a limited supply of each card amount, so be sure to get your order in early to ensure that you will get one (or you will have to wait until we get more cards the following month).

  • When you purchase your card, please let us know if you plan to refill the card in the future (we plan to continue this fundraiser for as long as we can receive the discounts, so the more you participate the more you are helping our church). If you plan to refill the card, we will record your name and card number (as well as contact information). We will also provide you with a reorder form to use when you are ready to refill the card. You can refill the card with any amount up to a maximum balance of $500. REMEMBER: DO NOT REFILL YOUR CARD THROUGH HANNAFORD. WE ONLY GET THE DISCOUNT IF YOU REFILL THE CARD THROUGH GRC! Note: If your card has a zero balance for more than 30 days it will no longer be active and you will need to get a new card.

  • REFILLING YOUR CARD – By the first Sunday of each month, submit a check payable to “Greenbush Reformed Church” along with your reorder form (so that we can verify your card number). You can place the check and reorder form in the offering plate. Your reorder will be processed through Hannaford’s bulk ordering system, and once the funds are available on your card, the church secretary will notify you that you can use your card.

  1. Thank you for supporting this fundraising event and for supporting GRC!
